Thanksgiving 2011

Banning,California.November 24,2011.

It has been Three years that we were at the Morongo Barnyard
every time November comes. But this year, the Morongo Indians
opted to let those who wanted a free Turkey to just go and
picked their share at the Morongo Casino parking lot on
November 19,2011.

It might be a sign of hardtimes for the organizers since
they encouraged an exchange of Turkey with at least
Five canned goods.

When years before, they were giving Turkeys for free and
dry goods to the same people who were making lines at
the Barnyard.

That is why most were discouraged to appear on that day,
thinking that they might not be able to get something.
Just the same,Thanksgiving day has to be celebrated and
will continue to signify a cherished day for every
family to thank the good Lord for all the blessings
each family member received during the year and to share
it with those who mostly needed them.

Till then ,Happy Thanksgiving to all of us!

Calbayog Fiesta 2011

September 8,2011.Banning,California,U.S.A.

Paying homage to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

St.Anne seated,carrying a child on her lap.
Wearing royal blue robes and white necklines.
This image reminds us; faithful, parishioner and
particularly those who were born in Calbayog City,
where the ever enduring faith and devotion to the
Blessed Virgen Mary is beyond question.

In line with this, please allow me to express a wish
by asking our beloved friends and organizers to humbly
maintain and adhere to the original image by maintaining
the royal blue robes of St. Anne and the white clothing
for the infant Mary on her lap.

We are supposed to keep the traditional image everlasting
and not evolving.

Relative to this,I commend the Calbayognons in San Diego,
California for maintaining a replica (truly totally similar)
to that at the altar in Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral
in Calbayog City.

After all it is only faith, humility and simplicity
that the Blessed Virgen wants us to emulate aside from
praying the holy rosary as often as possible.

Faithfulness to the image must be adhered to avoid things
that mislead the eyes and faith of Calbayognons who are
used to witness it in it's original color and form.

Furthermore, seeing the replica image in San Diego,California
is just like adoring it before her majestic altar in the
Sts.Peter and Paul Cathedral in Calbayog.

Unmistakably beautiful that brings back childhood memories
of our humble beginnings and triggers a shiver on our feet
to prepare a flight heading back home.

Happy Fiesta to all of us.

Industrial Disaster

Banning,California.March 16,2011.

Since the start of industrialization just after World War II in the
early 1950's and mid 1960's,countries around the world kept dreaming
and continued to research on how to make an alternative sources of
energy that will outgrow the need to buy expensive crude oil from
the Middle Eastern countries that practically dictate prices thereof.

One among them is Japan.Through the years they developed a
sustainable energy device by designing and maintaining nuclear
reactor plants that boasted their supremacy in manufacturing
automobiles and enjoyed a stable and continued supply of
electricity and water.

Thus, earning them the symbol of power in the whole of Asia
and the rest of the industrialized world.Without noticing the
future impact of natural calamities such as an 8.9 magnitude
earthquake can cause trouble to the physical structures of the
reactors and the whole system of the nuclear plant itself.
Much more when a Ten meter tsunami comes along as what had
happened last Friday March 11,2011.

Twenty years,Forty years maybe too long a time to ignore
a possible risk of malfunction or simply to dispose off of
used rods and it's storage to see to it that it will not cause
harm to humans.

Eventually today as the whole world is watching and praying
for quicker resolution of a possible meltdown in Japan, the
rest of the humanity are risking patience, anxiety and fear
for their lives and that of their love ones who might get
exposed to harmful radiation.

Maybe now is a right time for other countries to contemplate
on reviewing and maybe set aside or reversing their desires
for developing harmful nuclear reactor plants to lessen the
burden of ordinary human beings who wanted just to live a
peaceful and healthy lifestyle.

This tragedy could be a lesson to all that ultimate desire
of earning too much money is useless when the price of doing it
is risking human lives. Where its citizens can no longer afford
to drink a clean glass of water and eat safe uncontaminated food.

To our well loved friends in Japan,I would like to extend my
deepest sympathy and condolences.
